In the early 80's, Debbie Zachary, foreseeing a complete life change coming, started teaching herself to sandblast art into glass after seeing a picture in a magazine. In 1985 Debbie got her business license and Sandblasted Art was born. Now a single mother of two and with a fledging business at hand she was able to support her family and 19 other latch key children on her artwork alone. In 1996 Sandblasted Art received its first public art project to sandblast 26 poems and artwork from local poem contest winners into the cement promenade at Pt. Defiance Park. This project started a new chapter for the business and started Debbie in working on stone after thinking "there must be something prettier then concrete to blast on". In 2000, she met her partner V.J. Suttmeier, who has a background in graphic design, prototyping, and production. With Debbie's artistic abilities and V.J.'s computer and fabrication skills this was an instant mesh for the business and has made it possible for us to offer the pieces you see today. In 2005 Sandblasted Art won the bid to sandblast an 8" wide by one mile long way finding pattern for the sight impaired into the granite floors of the Seattle bus tunnel. This was by far the largest job Sandblasted Art had taken on to that point. After hiring two helpers for the project and a huge learning curve Sandblasted Art was one of the only contractors to finish their project on time and on budget. Whether working on a simple glass project, creating pieces for your dream home, or doing a large scale project feel assured Sandblaste Art will provide you with the highest quality at a fair price.
